In order to reform the Electricity sector, Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act was enacted in 2003. The act covers major issues involving generation, distribution, transmission and trading in power. The act aims to bring growth in the power sector by privatising it. This act extends to whole of India except for Jammu and Kashmir.
